Baby Steps
Today, ridiculous as it may sound, I have been learning how to walk. Now, obviously I knew the basics of walking before - put one foot in front of the other and all that - but the specifics turn out to be rather more complicated than I had realised. For instance, I seem to have spent my entire life placing each foot on the ground flat, rather than lowering it down gently from the front. As a result, I have barely used my knees and ankles for the past thirty years. No wonder they are so weak. I'd better get a hang of this walking lark pretty soon as I am supposed to be running a marathon in eight months time. I'm sure it will be as easy as riding a bike although, unfortunately, I'm not too sure about my prowess in that area either.

My son has a funny way of walking too. I wore his tennis shoes once (when he used to wear close to the same size as me) and the outsides of his shoes were worn down. Just the outside, not the toe and not the heel. I figure it is something we will have to work on later.
James, this is going to be a stupid question but do you dream?
Hi Daphne. I didn't use to remember my dreams very often. Maybe I didn't dream or maybe I just forgot them easily. I remember them a bit more often now.
All right, I've been considering this question for a while now, and I must ask...lowering your feet down from the front? Don't you mean from the back (so heel first, toes last?) Have I also been walking wrong all these years? You've gotten me hyperaware of how I walk with this post!
Aha, you spotted it, Kim.
The fact is that I started this process with running in which the front of the foot does go down first (I think). I tried this at first with walking but I soon discovered that heel down first works best.
The learning keeps on going.
